Execution

Having been given the copy, this would be a very text-heavy book, but my goal was to not make it seem so overwhelming with type. Breaking up the body text was the best way to achieve this. However, to create an effective approach, I gave emphasis to typographic areas, supplemented accent colors, embraced white space, and used images to my advantage within a 6 column variational grid.

My use of yellow represents Churchill Downs, symbolizing the Twin Spires. While red represents the history and symbolization of the Kentucky Derby award-winning Roses.
